Feed The Children

31% of children in poverty live with a single mother. That’s 196,000 kids in the GTA who cannot receive their basic needs, including food. Living in poverty makes it difficult for our mothers to provide 3 meals per day, every day.

Feed the Children is a campaign that aims to collect food items for our food bank. Donations come from the community and consist mostly of both perishable and non-perishable items. For a complete list of items, please refer to the food bank page on our website or email us at donations@smipcanada.org

We use these food items to provide to our registered families, our international poverty program, our childcare centers, and our breakfast program. Generally, we obtain these food items to provide to the registered families throughout the year. However, we also ship some of the food items to developing nations.

Your support will give those 196,000 kids more and better meals. With your help, we can make the community a better place for all those mothers who need a helping hand.

Healthy Eating

A balanced and healthy diet is essential for your child's good health, growth, and development.

For children eating healthy means, they will have less chance of developing chronic diseases like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, and some cancers.

Eating food containing important nutrients helps children grow, and is essential for children's mental and physical development.  Dairy and alternatives are important during childhood as they are a good source of calcium, vitamins A and D, protein, and fat

Our organization feeds over 1,200 children every week. Without the support of community members and businesses, we would not be able to provide this support. To see what our food bank is in need of please go to the link provided below.
